We are please to announce the addition of VMware’s SRM 6.5 and vSphere Replication 6.5 in the “DR for virtual environments” category. These are the latest releases from VMware and you will find that SRM has (just) taken the top spot in the comparison scores, reflecting the latest enhancements. Products currently available in the market have different approaches when it comes to replication and RPO. Its just another example of the technical information we evaluate to help you make informed choices when evaluating DR/BC solutions. SRM 6.5 What’s New – Summary[block]5[/block]
To start with VSRM 6.5 is now compatible with vSphere 6.5 – in addition it introduces these new features:
- Support for VVols Volumes through vSphere Replication, protecting vms that are located on Virtual Volume datastores and replicated by vSphere Replication
- Integration with vRealize Ops through a new management pack. Monitor core Site Recovery Manager health metrics such as server connectivity, protection group and recovery plan status
- Support for silent installation, upgrade, and uninstallation
- API enhancements – introducing new methods in the public API. For details see Site Recovery Manager API Developer’s Guide
- Enhancements and new workflows in the vRealize Orchestrator plug-in for Site Recovery Manager 6.5
- vRealize Orchestrator plug-in fnow works with vRealize Orchestrator configured with LDAP authentication.

- Support for vCenter HA – SRM works normally in the event of a vCenter Server HA failover
- Support for migration of a vCenter Server installation on Windows – to a vCenter Server Appliance installation during upgrade
- Support for the new vm encryption feature
- Support for Test Recovery operation when the protected and recovery sites are disconnected
