Nutanix calls its native snapshot feature Time Stream.
Nutanix calls its cloud backup feature Cloud-Connect.
Nutanix provides a single-node cluster configuration for on-premises off-production-cluster backup purposes by leveraging native snapshots. The single-node supports compression and deduplication, but cannot be used as a generic backup target. It uses Replication Factor 2 (RF2 ) to protect data against magnetic disk failures.
Nutanix also provides a single-node cluster configuration in the AWS and Azure public clouds for off-premises backup purposes. Data is moved to the cloud in an already deduplicated format. Optionally compression can be enabled on the single-node in the cloud.
